The purpose of the Hazardous
Waste Management program at Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) is to ensure the
proper management of hazardous chemical wastes generated within the
university. Regulations on handling and
disposing of hazardous waste are comprehensive and complex on the federal,
state, and local level. To comply with
these regulations, all generators of hazardous wastes at PLU must follow the
procedures in this program.
Environmental Health & Safety
has the primary responsibility for conducting the hazardous waste management
program. However, everyone at PLU who
generates or handles hazardous waste is ultimately responsible for compliance
with regulations and the success of the program.
