Sakai 2.5 Upgrade
This newest version of Sakai contains a number of new tools, enhanced functionality, bug fixes, and an enhanced user interface. Some of the salient changes include:
New Tools
- Citation Manager: create and import citations into Resource tool citation lists
- Polls: create online polls and voting and view results
- Site Stats: track use of your course resources (see Sakai support team for details)
Improvement Highlights
- Announcements: schedule release dates and retraction dates
- Assignments: allow grading for students that have not posted any submissions and notifications for new submissions
- Chat Room: create and manage separate chat rooms in a site
- Drop Box: students and instructors can now email each other when they upload files
- Gradebook: support for categories and weighted categories as well as many other improvements
- Message Center: reorganized into more functional Mailtool and Forums tool
- Roster: is now group and section aware
- Syllabus: new print-friendly view
- Tests & Quizzes: instructor can allow retakes and remove published assessments
