Dear Adored Masses,

An aside (re: the coming-to-the-end of our reign over Saxifrage, manifesting itself in angst over this note):

Abby: Do we have to write it now?
Sondra: It’s just a rough draft.
Abby: Can we just do bullet points?
Sondra: What if you want to write a sentence?
Abby: Can we write sentences with bullet points?
Sondra: It’s just a rough draft; we can start over tomorrow.
Abby: My face is in my shirt. That’s how distressed I am. I can’t write this now.
Sondra: I’m writing it.

Meanwhile, here’s what we really have to say:

1. Thank you—Solveig, Rick, Kenny at Johnson-Cox, Liz, Jacob, Jen, those who kept us emotionally and intellectually balanced, Super Sticky Post-it Notes®, those skilled in hanging posters, David, Jake, Kathryn, and Whitney for designing those posters (you so rock), all those who submitted, and our flawless and ne’er fatigued staff.
2. A recap of the year of Volume 33 (Year of the Flower):
We applied for parenthood, and the adoption papers were approved. We arranged events to keep it amused (not screaming, anyway) in its early infancy, watched it make four hundred three new friends, and coaxed it along into a fully developed (and you have to admit, rather attractive) young adult. And now, Readers, we hand it off to you. Open it gently, and love it well.
