What is SHRM?

The Society for Human Resource Management is a professional association that provides comprehensive information and resources that are relevant to the field of HRM. Founded in 1948, SHRM has played a significant role through its commitment to the mission of "advancing the human resource profession and the capabilities of all human resource professionals to ensure that HR is an essential and effective partner in developing and executing organizational strategy."

SHRM is the leading voice of the Human Resource profession, representing the interests of more than 250,000 professional and student members with education and information services, conferences and seminars, government and media representations, and publications that equip human resource professionals to become leaders and decision makers within their organizations.

The purpose of the student program is to promote mutually beneficial interaction between HRM students and practitioners. Membership offers students the opportunity to supplement their classroom education with real-world knowledge and hands-on experience.
