Professional Certifications A professional certification in human resources will set you apart from other candidates in the job market. It shows that you have mastered the knowledge of the HR field and that you are able to apply that knowledge in practice. The classes and SHRM events offered at PLU introduce students to valuable knowledge that can be applied in practice and in learning the materials that might be tested through the HRCI exams. Human Resources Certification Institute HRCI is the Human Resource Certification Institute. HRCI is responsible for providing the Professional Human Resource (PHR) and Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR) certificates. HRCI also offers the Global Professional Human Resource (GPHR) certificate. For a small exam fee people seeking a PHR, SPHR, or GPHR certificate can take the exam. Generally, to qualify for the PHR exam you must have two years of professional work experience and six years of experience for the SPHR exam. Student Discount For the time being, students and recent graduates can take the test without the prerequisite professional experience. Upon completion of two years of experience and paying the remaining fee balance, the individual will receive PHR certification. |
