Being a student leader at PLU is more than just a job.  Student Leaders at PLU participate in a common leadership experience that is educational, challenging, rewarding, and fun!  There are many ways to get involved.  Check out leadership opportunities below!

Student Involvement and Leadership Intern

Internships in Student Involvement and Leadership offer students with demonstrated leadership experiences the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, as well as promote engagement and leadership among their peers.  Interns design, implement and assess programs and help to connect emerging leaders with opportunities throughout the campus. Interns have the unique opportunity to collaborate with various student leaders to implement campus programs.  By establishing relationships and supporting behind-the-scenes planning, interns help nurture a healthy campus climate.  SIL Interns pursue three key objectives:  to advance the mission of Student Involvement & Leadership; to create a welcoming and responsive hub for students at PLU; and to pursue the goals of their personal leadership development plan.  Click here to read more about this position! » 

PLU EXPLORE! Student Coordinator

The EXPLORE! Retreat is an opportunity, through the Wild Hope Project, for first year students to join faculty, staff, and student leaders in an off-campus experience of refection and community. EXPLORE! Student Coordinators are involved in all aspects in the logistical planning of the EXPLORE! Retreat for first year students. EXPLORE! Student Coordinators are also responsible for recruitment of student leaders , first year student participants as well as a logistics crew.  EXPLORE! Student Coordinators are able to relate well to with a variety of constituents including peers, new students, faculty and staff.  Students in this position have an appreciation and respect for the diversity within our community and are committed to the PLU community as well as the mission of the University.  ESC’s are expected to be self-motivated, organized, flexible, punctual, enjoy teamwork, excel in communication, and enjoy having fun! PLU Leadership Fellow - Emerging Leaders

The PLU Leadership Fellows program challenges participating PLU students to expand their leadership competencies while working with others in the university and Tacoma community.  Leadership Fellows are students with a demonstrated commitment to leadership who engage in a one-year intensive commitment to exploring and developing competencies needed to lead successfully in diverse communities, organizations and learning communities. Fellows will engage in regular reflective leadership practice, meet regularly with a leadership mentor and share their skills and experiences with other student leaders in and around the PLU community.  In addition, the Fellows will implement programs, workshops and social events for the PLU Emerging Leaders program. Student Leadership and Involvement Transfer Intern

Interns design, implement and assess programs and help to connect transfer students with opportunities throughout the campus. Interns have the unique opportunity to collaborate with various student leaders to implement campus programs. By establishing relationships and supporting behind-the-scenes planning, interns help nurture a healthy campus climate for students as they both look to transfer here and once they are enrolled.
