MATH/EDUC 446, Mathematics in the Secondary School MATH/EDUC 446, Mathematics in the Secondary School, Fall 2009 Math journal report guidelines
You have two options for this assignment:
-
Locate one of the following journals in the library:
- Journal for Research in Mathematics Education
- Mathematics
and Computer Education
- Mathematics Teacher
- Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School
- School Science & Mathematics
- Teaching Children Mathematics
and find an article that interests you, or
- go to ERIC (http://eric.ed.gov/), and search for a particular topic that interests you (if you need help with using ERIC, please talk to me -- this is a very important resource for teachers).
Either way, you will choose an article and prepare to present it to your classmates. You will have approximately five minutes for your presentation. In this presentation, you can be as creative, or non-creative as you wish. You can use your five minutes to state the main ideas of the article, you may choose to enact the activity the article talks about, you may wish to create a PowerPoint presentation... In any case, you will need to make clear what the article was about and why you chose to present it. The article must be relevant to our course, and the information it provides should be useful to you and your classmates. This assignment will be worth 25 points.
