Lesson plan guidelines

This will be a three-part assignment, done in pairs (there may be one or two groups of three).

Timeline (tentative -- check Sakai for the latest deadlines):

September 22: Choose a partner and topic. Each group must meet with me to discuss choice of lesson. You can either use one of the lessons I have posted on Sakai, come up with your own (strongly encouraged), or I can help you choose a topic and lesson. The lesson plan can be for a single or multiple class periods.

September 29: The first draft of the first part of the lesson plan is due. Bring enough copies for the whole class. We will read each other's lesson plans and critique them. If there is time, some groups may teach parts of their lessons.

October 1: The second draft of the first part is due: you can make changes based on the suggestions received in class. You will be graded on the second draft. This assignment is worth 20 points.

October 8: The first draft of the second part of the assignment is due: add cooperative learning to the lesson plan. You are encouraged, but not required, to meet with me before you turn in the draft. As last time, bring enough copies for everyone in the class to read.

October 13: The second draft of the second part is due. This assignment is also worth 20 points.

November 5: The first draft of the third part of the assignment is due: add technology to the lesson plan. Do not be concerned if your lesson is getting longer: remember that you will be able to use it in the classroom. Once again, bring enough copies of the lesson plan.

November 10: Completed lesson plans are due. This assignment, too, is worth 20 points.

December 1-December 10: Presentations of lesson plans. The grading rubric is available here. This assignment is worth 40 points.
