Reading summary guidelines

You will turn in a page-long reflection on readings, whenever they are assigned. The format of the reflection is open, but it is important that it contains one or more of the following: points that you thought were interesting, or important; ideas you agree or disagree with; issues that came up when you were reading; how you think you could apply the ideas in the readings (if at all); how the readings relate to your experiences; and so on. You do not need to summarize the readings. The main purpose of your reflection is to help you participate in the classroom discussion. You can discuss each of the readings separately, or together.

You may submit the reflections electronically, either via email or Sakai, but since you will be using them in class discussions, please have either your computer, or hard copies of the reflections with you.

Each summary will be graded based on completeness and thoughtfulness on a 1-5 scale. I will give you ample written feedback on your submissions.
