The School of Physical Education provides a variety of undergraduate
professional preparation programs, career opportunities in the fields
of physical education, recreation, health, exercise science, physical
therapy, health and fitness management, athletic training and sports
administration continue to expand. Our degree programs at PLU
reflect the diversity and expertise required in today's market
place. Each of our degree programs offers a significant amount of
practical experience both on and off campus to enrich the students
learning experiences and to insure an adequate bridge between theory
and practice.
Internships
are required in all of the degree programs. These are primarily
organized on a local, regional, and national basis. However, some
internships have also been organized for students in Britain, Norway,
Australia, Japan, and Namibia. "Maintaining optimal health and
fitness while engaging the challenges of life is one of the tasks we
all face. One of our life goals should be to remain optimally fit
and physically active for as long as possible" (Tony Evans, Ph. D.,
Director of Exercise Science and Fitness). At PLU we believe the
liberal arts and professional education our students receive helps them
to achieve this life goal at the same time to learn how to help others
achieve that same goal. At PLU we are all committed to working
with students at a personal level to help them become lifelong learners
who can contribute to society in a meaningful way.
"A broad range of physical experiences cannot fail to have a pronounced effect on mentality and character and to bring a student to a fuller realization of the meaning of education, health and wholeness."
