Student Employment

How to Find a Part-time Job

Student employees are critical to the operation of PLU. Nearly 1,000 students choose to work at PLU each semester. There is hardly an office or department on campus that does not employ students. This large variety of jobs allows students with little work experience to select jobs that develop their skills, increase their confidence, and broaden their horizons. Campus jobs will normally pay between minimum wage and $9.00 per hour.

Campus jobs are convenient, do not require transportation, and usually offer flexible schedules. A listing of available positions is maintained by the Student Employment Office, located in Administration Building, Room 132C. Current job openings and on-campus employment applications are available at www.plu.edu/~stuemp.

To qualify for Campus Employment you must be enrolled at least half-time and maintain satisfactory progress. The maximum number of hours you may work on campus is 20 hours per week when classes are in session and 40 hours during periods of vacation.

PLU also supports students who need specialized training or cannot find relevant work on campus by developing off campus jobs through the Federal or State Work Study program. Federal Work Study will be part of your Offer for Financial Aid. Eligibility for this program allows you to work at any of the student jobs being offered by PLU.
