Each year the University Symphony
Orchestra sponsors a concerto competition for musicians at PLU called
the Student Soloists Competition. Students may participate with the
agreement of their studio teachers and the conductor of the USO.
Congratulations to the 2009-2010 winners, and to all who auditioned. The judges have selected, an alphabetical order:
Ryan Foster, trumpet Arutunian: Trumpet Concerto
Spencer Lang, tenor Vaughan Williams: On Wenlock Edge
Graham Logen, bassoon Mozart: Concerto for Bassoon in B-flat
These young artists will perform with the USO on Tuesday 23 March, 2010.
Judges for the 2009-10 auditions were:
Dawn Padula, Chair of Vocal Studies at the University of Puget Sound
Ramona Allen, Pianist and Piano Teacher in the South Sound area
Jeremy Briggs-Roberts, Conductor of the Icicle Creek Youth Symphony Orchestra
