Angelica Boyden - Senior
Angelica "Geli" Boyden is number 7 and a second year captain for PLU Reign. This is her fourth year playing ultimate. She is handler with great throws and a great mark. During the summer/fall, Geli is a handler for the Seattle club ultimate team, Underground. She spent the fall of 2008 studying in Guanajuato, Mexico, and January of 2011 studying in Quito, Ecuador. She is a Hispanic Studies major with Global Studies and Political Science minors at PLU.
Kathy Keys - Senior
Kathy Keys wears number 11 on PLU Reign and this will
be her fourth year playing ultimate. Kathy has transitioned completely from being a cutter to being a handler for Reign this season. She has a giant wingspan and is known for her
defensive hand-blocks on the mark. Kathy is a Social Work makor with a minor in Sociology. She is also very involved with the Women's Center at PLU.
Kayla "Kackle" Griffith wears number 5 on PLU Reign. This will be her third year playing ultimate. She is an aggressive handler for Reign with a huge lefty-backhand huck. Kayla is a Psychology major. She is also a mean competitor in IM soccer, softball, and volleyball.
Oh, and her hammer is unstoppable!
Sarah Sandgren wears the number 20 and is a cutter for PLU Reign. She was a late arrival to ultimate, and, although this is only her second year playing for Reign, she has proven to be a great asset to the team with her height and aggression. She is a Political Science major with a minor in Spanish. She is active on campus through Wind Ensemble and Gonyea Fellows. Sarah a proud DJ of her own KCCR radio program on Wednesdays at 10pm. She is also the team's Scandinavian Princess.
Melina "Mel" Maltese is number 00 on the PLU Women's Ultimate roster. This is her first year playing with PLU Reign and is a smart, hard-working cutter and defender. She is a Biology major with an Environmental Studies minor at PLU. Mel is an Outdoor Rec Guide and loves the outdoors (hiking, rock climbing, the whole shebang)! She is also a proud leader of the Outdoor Rec Spring Break trip for 2011.
Jihan "Jafar" Grettenberger is in her third year playing for PLU Reign and is a captain this season. She wears number 8 and is a threatening cutter on the field with her speed and athleticism. She is an Environmental Studies major with minors in Spanish and Social Work. Jihan is also active on campus through Red Carpet Club and the Community Garden. She spent the fall semester of 2010 studying in Costa Rica and will be studying abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico, during the fall semester of 2011.
Elizabeth Herzfeldt-Kamprath aka "Liz HK" or solely "HK" wears the number 2 and is in her third year playing ultimate at PLU. She has proven to be a strong handler and puller for within her last two seasons with the team. HK is majoring in English Writing with minors in Communications and Printing & Publishing Arts. She is too involved around campus to list all of her activities, but just to name a few are MediaLab, KCNS News and ASPLU.
Jessica Wilson wears number 6 for PLU Reign and this is her second year playing ultimate. With her quick release throws that throw off her opponents, Jessica has become an important part of Reign's handler set. Jessica is a Biology major with minors in Chemistry and Business at PLU. She is busy on campus as a Resident Assistant (RA) in Ordal.
Flannery Spinhirne aka “Flan" is number 1 and in her second year playing ultimate for PLU Reign. She also completes the trio of captains for the squad this season. She is a transfer student from the University of Texas, where she was a member of the Women's Crew team. Flan is an English major with minors in Math and Women's & Gender Studies at PLU. This year she is a Residential Assistant (RA) in Tinglestad.
Breanna "Bre" Nelson wears number 16 for PLU Reign. This is her first official season playing ultimate, although she has been playing ultimate around campus for the past two years. She missed the 2010 season to study abroad in Vienna, Austria, but the team is happy to have her back this season as a gritty cutter and defender. She is a Psychology and Anthropology double major at PLU, and a KCCR radio DJ. Bre also loves to cook and take pictures. She is the unofficial (but pretty much official) team photographer.
Kiersten Dahms is number 22 on the PLU Women's Ultimate roster. This is her second year playing ultimate. Having been the recipient of the “Rookie of the Year" award for PLU Reign last spring, she has proven to be a physical presence as a fast cutter and an aggressive defensive player. We have high hopes for her this season as well. She is a Nursing major with a minor in Art at PLU. Kiersten spent the fall semester of 2010 studying in Africa. She also loves to wear costumes while playing frisbee.
Margaret “Maggie" Mickelson wears the number 18 for PLU Reign. This is Maggie's second year playing ultimate. She has proven to be an important member of the team as a strong and aggressive cutter as well as defensive player. Maggie is a Sociology major at PLU. She is also a proud DJ of her own KCCR radio program, "Daytime of the Night". Maggie is a Residential Assistant (RA) in Tinglestad. She will also be studying abroad in India during the fall semester of 2011.
Alexandria "Allie Jo" Koester is number 31 and in her second year playing for PLU Reign. Allie Jo played cutter last season, but has transitioned into playing handler this season because of her tenacious handler-defense and attitude. She is majoring in Geoscience at PLU. Allie Jo also plays the acoustic guitar in the PLU worship band called Deliverance.
Melanie "Z" Vanhaus is number 21 on PLU Reign. This is Z's first year playing ultimate, and it's even cooler that ultimate is the first organized sport that she has ever played. She is an English major with minors in Printing & Publishing Arts. She is also proudly from Alaska, making her the third Alaskan on PLU Reign.
Nicole "Colee" Ueland is number 9 for PLU Reign this season. She is a cutter and, although this is her first year playing ultimate, her background in soccer has made her a quick learner and skilled rookie. Colee is a Communications major with an emphasis and PR and Advertisement at PLU. She is a member of the Relay for Life planning commitee, and she also owns two of the cutest dogs you will ever meet.
Anna McCracken wears the number 4 and is in her first year playing ultimate at PLU. With her background in sports, Anna has proven to be a cutter with big potential for Reign this season. She is a Global Studies and Political Science double major with a minor in Anthropology. She is active on campus through Red Carpet Club and the French Horn Choir. She has also recently been chosen as an Outdoor Rec Guide for the 2011-2012 school year.
Susan
Keyl is number 23 and a first year cutter on PLU Reign. This is her first year playing ultimate as well as her first time playing an organized sport. Susan is the rookie with the most eager attitude to learn about and play ultimate. Susan is undecided on her major at PLU, but she is the coolest member of the PLU orchestra.
Cassady
Coulter is number 2 on the PLU Women's Ultimate roster. This is her
first year playing ultimate at PLU, although she comes to PLU having
played ultimate at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle. Cassady has big
potential to be a top handler for Reign this season with accurate throws
and strong defense. She is an intended Communications with an emphasis in Journalism major at PLU.
Leslie
Ducay is number 15 and in her first year playing ultimate for PLU
Reign. Leslie has a background competing in triathlons and has proven to
be a cutter on Reign that can run for miles, literally. She is also a
proud member of the Tacomatose mixed-ultimate frisbee team out of
Tacoma. She is a Nursing major at PLU and a member of Delta Lota Chi,
GREAN Club and RHC.
