four pieces for orchestra
For orchestra
Duration: 18 minutes
NOTES BrushWorks comprises four musical responses to specific Chinese paintings and the brush work of which they are made. The first is of a gnarled figure, one of the Daoist immortals, who has returned to earth as a beggar; the second is of the thick trunk, thinner branches and finally brilliant flowers of a Wisteria bush; the third depicts the mountains and water of a Chinese landscape; and the fourth swirls with the Central Asian rhythms of Buddhist angel musicians called Apsaras.
