NOTES
Fireworks was written to explore the wind ensemble's natural density of sound and variety of color. Like a giant drum set, the ensemble develops aggressive rhythmic motives and tosses parallel triads about like a bar-chording rock guitarist. Between the "fireworks," more lyrical passages develop the melodic and harmonic implications of the material before the final energetic, but good-humored ending.
