A humorous suite for brass quintet and speaker.
Commissioned in 1989 by the Pierce County Arts Commission and the Lyric Brass Quintet.

NOTES
Lips was commissioned for a tour of "place-bound audiences"- which
included school children, nursing home residents, and prisoners! Feeling that perhaps the only
thing these groups might have in common was humor (and possibly a curiosity about brass instruments!),
the piece became a humorous but educational introduction to brass instruments and techniques.
Six short pieces are each preceded by a doggerel verse that reveals something about brass
playing such as lip buzzing, slides and the harmonic series.
