NOTES These three song texts use animal imagery to take us on an interior
journey. In the first Ubi Sunt, the narrator misses the magic of a whale sighting by
trying too hard to record the moment. The second song, Repression, is a Zen meditation
on the limitations of language and logical thought, and the third, Oakie, is a lyrical
fantasy on the notion that Jesus might, perhaps, have had a dog…
