Duration: 9min.
NOTES Scherzo for a Bitter Moon is based on a wedge motive
that opens the piece in the piccolo. An impressionistic section gives way to more
dark and threatening manifestations of the motive, and the piece develops the
tension between these and other ideas inherent in the motive. After a story climax,
and apparent desolation, a return to the opening brings with it new strength,
yet in the end, also new shadows.
