Parking in PLU lots is by decal only. If you are bringing a vehicle to PLU this fall and have not already done so, please visit the Campus Safety website to register your vehicle for the upcoming academic year.
Tingelstad Gated Lot
Looking for guaranteed open parking spots, with the benefit of a fenced lot with card-access? The lot is open to residential (non-freshman residents) and commuter students. The standard $50 parking decal will cover parking in this lot.
South Hall Lot
This is a card access gated lot that is open to all students. Spaces are assigned, so you never have to worry about finding a parking space. (Decal is only good for parking in this lot).
The cost for a standard student decal (Commuter, Resident, Freshman) is $50 for the academic year. Additional fees apply for South Hall Reserved or Tingelstad Gated Lot decals. To view the rates, parking lot locations, and to register, click here.
The registration process is quick and easy, and by registering you will be able to receive your parking decal and avoid receiving a parking ticket. Ticketing will begin during the first week of school.
Once registered, decals are available for pickup in the Campus Safety office (north side of Harstad Hall). If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact Jennifer Gierke, Parking Supervisor, at email@example.com or 253-535-7249.
All PLU lots are private property and require a parking decal of pass issued by PLU to park in them. A parking decal does not guarantee you a parking space in an authorized lot but rather affords you the opportunity to park in the lot should space be available. The only permissible parking spaces within the PLU lots must be outlined on both sides with painted white lines. Parking in any unmarked section of a PLU lot (i.e. grassy areas, unmarked spaces, etc.) is subject to ticketing for improper parking ($30). All violations in PLU lots are enforced between 7:00 am -5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, throughout the school year. Areas that are enforced 24 hours per day are: fire lanes, restricted areas, handicapped spaces, carpool spaces, loading zones and reserved 24 hour spaces. Driving on inner campus is strictly regulated. Generally, student vehicles are not permitted on the inner campus except during official move-in and out days. The university reserves the right to change designated use of parking lots at any time to provide for special needs. Only the decal for the current school year may be displayed. Previous school year decals must be removed. All vehicles parked on campus must be in operable condition.
Vehicle Registration Information
Registration begins during the summer before the start of the school year. The decals are valid through August 31st of the latest year displayed on the decal. Please do not discard your decal until you have picked up your newest decal. Vehicle registration is completed on-line. The decal will be ready for pick up within 3 business days at the Campus Safety office. Decals can not be mailed and must be picked up in person. Bring your PLU ID card with you. If someone else will be picking up your decal in your stead, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org advising of the same. Signature on a receipt form will be required before CSAF will release the decal.
All registered vehicles are required to display a PLU parking decal at all times when parked in a PLU lot. If, for some reason, your decal is not displayed in your registered car, you will need to request a free day pass from CSAF or risk being ticketed for non-display ($30). In the event you neglect to transfer your primary decal to a non-registered secondary vehicle but still want to park in a PLU lot, you can obtain a free day pass from the CSAF office. Otherwise, you risk being ticketed for failure to register ($80). Note: Handwritten notes are not accepted as substitutes for a PLU day pass and will be subject to ticketing the same as an unregistered vehicle ($80).
Your status at PLU (i.e., student vs. employee, commuter vs. resident, freshman, etc.) determines which parking decal you are allowed to register for.
Commuter: Students commuting to campus from home regardless of class standing.
First-Year: Students with freshman status who are living on campus.
Resident: Students with other than freshman status living on campus.
Faculty/Staff: Any and all employees of PLU.
Morken: Offered as a secondary decal option to all employees and students with commuter decals only. See additional information under “Morken Decal Information”.
South Hall: Open to all students (regardless of class standing) for an additional fee. These decals do not allow the owner to park in any other lots.
Each decal type is assigned to designated PLU lots with signs posted at each lot entrance indicating which decal type is authorized to park in any given lot. Should you park in a lot not authorized for your decal, you risk being ticketed for parking in an unauthorized lot ($40).
2017 - 2018 current rates for students (includes Resident First-Years, Resident students and Commuters): $50 annually
