Thank you for supporting Lute Baseball!
Q&A with Coach Nolan Soete
What are some highlights of this year that shows your team succeeding, facing a challenge, and supporting each other?
Our first non-conference trip of the year was to Austin, Texas. Our flight got canceled the night before we were supposed to leave. After spending 6 hours on the phone we got everything worked out where we could fly down to Austin on a Friday night and arrive at the hotel around 2 am. We woke up around 7 am and went to Texas Lutheran for two games. We won both games and flew out of Austin the next morning around 5 am. We were literally only down in Texas for 28 hours. The players did a great job maintaining a great attitude and we had success on the field.
What makes your student-athletes special? What makes you feel most proud of your team?
My student-athletes are special because they work extremely hard on the field, in the classroom and throughout the campus community. I am proud of them because they represent the program and university in a professional manner.
How did your team engage with the community this year?
Our team volunteered with Be the Match on campus. We worked with the football team to run a bone marrow registry drive. Together we helped 355 people get registered on the national Bone Marrow Registry.
Looking ahead, what are you most excited about for next year?
I’m excited for the opportunity to compete for a Northwest Conference title.
