Engaging with the entire PLU community to provide assistance and guidance in deciding on which career to pursue. This includes helping students with career exploration, job search, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and accepting and transitioning into new positions that meet their goals.
Dawn has worked and lived in a variety of jobs and places. She has been a high school teacher, chef, chef instructor at a community college and worked in the TRIO program at South Seattle College while completing her master’s degree. One of the benefits of her husband being on active duty with the Navy is the number of opportunities she has had to live in many different parts of the United States. In the last eight years, she has lived in California, South Carolina, Connecticut, Washington and Nebraska.
Dawn is excited to be working at PLU in the Career Connections office assisting students with everything involved in finding, starting, and changing careers. Her extensive moving has allowed her to become very familiar with all aspects of the job search – the search, resume, cover letter, interviews, and starting in a new position. She enjoys meeting students and helping them with the job search and understanding their vocation. Dawn has a passion to help all members of the PLU community, but has the most experience helping veteran and military dependents, commuter, first generation and international students.
Personal and Interests
When not at work, Dawn enjoys spending time with her husband and living an active life. Dawn enjoys hiking, biking, running, backpacking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, reading and traveling. As a lifelong learner, Dawn is always willing to try something new, travel to a new place, or learn a new language.
