Guide to Upcoming Career Fairs & Events

The Office of Alumni & Student Connections hosts several large-scale career events each academic year, including career fairs and networking events. All career events taking place during the fall 2020 semester will be held virtually (online) due to the coronavirus. Meet the Firms (Virtual)

Friday, September 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. (PDT) on the Opportunities Board

About

Meet the Firms is an annual career fair-style networking event hosted by Beta Alpha Psi and Alumni & Student Connections. This event connects PLU students with accounting and finance employers in order to share employment opportunities and career insights.

Event Information During COVID-19

To align with social distancing measures, Meet the Firms will be hosted online using a virtual career fair platform to best connect recruiters with our exceptional students. You can access updates and new FAQs, recommendations, and communications at www.plu.edu/coronavirus.

Information for Employers

The registration fee is $50.00. This includes one virtual booth, unlimited recruiters, and direct access to the uniquely talented students at Pacific Lutheran University. Employers may register by September 24 here.

Information for Students

Student registration is required before September 24. Attire similar to what one would wear to an interview is recommended. There are no registration fees for students.

How to register as a student or alumni job seeker:
To register as a current student or recent graduate, log into your Opportunities Board account. Recent grads attending as job seekers must first create their alumni account in the Opportunities Board if not already done.

Once logged in, from the main menu select Events > Career Fairs > Meet the Firms. Select the black Attend button at the upper right corner of the event page, at which point you will be registered.

You will be prompted to upload a resume at the time of registration; please note that if you add a resume, it will be visible to recruiters who are attending the fair. Your registration can be updated at any point leading up to the fair.

How to prepare:

  • Remember, Alumni & Student Connections is here to help students prepare, and offers resume and cover letter reviews, advising appointments, and more. Visit the Opportunities Board to schedule your appointment today!
  • Students can also get their resume reviewed during virtual drop-in hours on Friday, September 25 from 12-2 p.m. (Zoom)
  • Students are also encouraged to attend the Power Skills Workshop: Interview Skills and How to Prepare for Questions on Tuesday, September 22 from 12:30-1 p.m. It will be led by PLU alum Jill McEntee, VP of New FA Development and Acquisition at D.A. Davidson Companies. Students can be expected to enhance their interview skills and prepare for the interview process before Meet the Firms. (Register)

Pacific Lutheran University Career & Internship Fair (Virtual)

The Career & Internship Fair is an exciting virtual networking event will connect undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates with recruiters to learn about career, internship, and volunteer opportunities. The career fair is open to all PLU students of any major and class level.

Information for Employers

This career fair is an excellent opportunity to promote your in-person and remote jobs, internships, career paths, volunteer positions, and other post-graduate opportunities to PLU students at recent graduates. This is an ideal event for an organization who has a range of positions for more than one major.

Registration cost for Non-Profit/Government

  • Early Bird (ends September 24): $40.00
  • Standard (September 24-October 20): $50.00

Registration cost for For-Profit/Corporate

  • Early Bird (ends September 24): $55.00
  • Standard (September 24-October 20): $65.00

Registration includes one virtual booth per company, unlimited recruiters, and access to the hundreds of talented students at PLU! Once registered, employers will receive further instructions on how to best utilize the virtual career fair platform.

We understand that for some companies there is a pause in hiring due to COVID-19, and that is okay. Consider attending the fair as an employer to share career advise and insight with students, continue or start name brand recognition, and build your network at PLU.
