The HEIKE A. PHELPS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to one Pacific Lutheran University student each year. One rising sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.3 and who has completed an internship during the 2021 – 2022 academic year will be selected. The award is open to students in all majors; however, first preference is given to a student studying Business, and second preference is given to a student studying Economics. This scholarship provides tuition assistance of approximately $1000 each year to one student completing an internship during the current academic year. The award is open to PLU students completing paid and unpaid internships. The tuition scholarship is applied to the award recipient’s financial aid package for the following academic year.

This scholarship was endowed in honor of Heike A. Phelps, who was a former PLU career services employee and internship director. She was instrumental in helping the donor with his college internships and focusing him toward his goals. To be eligible, students must submit an application form, resume, and a 250-500 word essay answering the question, “How has this internship helped focus your career goals?”

Applications must be submitted by May 6, 2022.
