From the Coaching Launch…
As the women’s team head coach I wanted to share a little bit about the excitement that is building down at the boathouse, in the erg room, and really all over campus about the rowing program. Over the last few months the women’s squad has really been working hard to raise their standards and push themselves to an all new level. This has come to pay dividends here this past weekend with the first ever Northwest Conference Duel regatta where we swept all races (1V and 2V – 1V racing Pacific Univ, Willamette, and Lewis & Clark – 2V racing UPS 3V and Lewis & Clark).
The team is excited about the regattas leading up to the Meyer-Lamberth races. We have our Northwest Conference Championships April 19th at Vancouver Lake where we have secured the #2 overall seed for the regatta; exciting stuff! The team is geared up to go toe-to-toe with UPS (who has the #1 overall seed) – a little “pre Lamberth Cup preview!” We then will head to the WIRA regatta in Sacramento, a trip which was just added back onto the schedule this week as a result of the team’s latest results and recognition in the latest polls! We are thrilled to be heading back to California and with 2 full 8’s. The goals for WIRA are simple – #1. Make the Grand Finals. #2. V8 – Go sub 6:55 2V – Go Sub 7:15. Simple goals… Go fast, have fun, and “lock horns.”
I have a vision for the women’s program that involves us being a fixture at the NCAA regatta year in and year out, a part of that vision is a close relationship with all of you. I truly am excited to meet as many of our alumni as possible at various regattas – please feel free to come up and say hi. See you out on the race course!
