Biography
Ben Chen is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the PLU School of Business. He has a PhD in Finance and an MBA degree from University of Texas at Dallas. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He also has experience in the insurance industry. He has taught at undergraduate, MBA, as well as Master in Finance level. His teaching experience includes Business Finance, Principles of Finance, Managerial Finance, Financial Analysis and Strategies, Investment, Financial Markets and Institutions, Corporate Finance, Advanced Corporate Finance, Options and Futures Market, and Derivatives. His research is in empirical finance. His research interests include banking, investment banking, corporate finance, IPO and SEO, CEO compensation, capital structure and debt policy, bank loan contracts, institutional ownership, cash holdings, stock returns, financial visibility, tax, cost of capital, short selling, and corporate social responsibility. His research has been published in several finance and accounting journals, including one publication in the Accounting Review, a top accounting journal. He also has several papers under review. He is also an Ad Hoc Referee for many academic journals. In 2016, he received the Outstanding Reviewer award from Journal of Risk Finance.
