Bio:
Melannie is a new addition to our Campus Ministry staff, but is not new to PLU. She previously served as the Director of Multicultural Recruitment in the Office of Admission, and is the advisor to the PLU Gospel Choir and has helped facilitate the annual Gospel Experience event.

Bio:
C. Ivan Johnson, is a Prophetic Voice, Award Winning Radio Personality, and Author. He has traveled the nation as an evangelist of the Gospel, preaching and exhorting with power and clarity. Pastor Ivan, is the Lead Servant and Founder of Greater Destiny Church in Tacoma, WA, with a mission to transform lives through purposeful ministry.

Dr. Edna Travis, Senior Pastor – New Covenant Pentecostal Tabernacle, Tacoma

Bio:
Dr. Travis co-founded New Covenant Pentecostal Tabernacle in Tacoma, Washington, more than 40 years ago, and she has also initiated numerous outreach ministries. New Covenant’s “Feeding Program” has been serving a hot evening meal every day since March 1985. In addition, Dr. Travis maintains monthly ministries at McNeil Island Correction Center, Orchard Park Health Care Center, and Tacoma Rescue Mission. Her radio ministry, “The Midnight Cry Messenger,” was heard for three years on KBLE and then for two years on KLAY. She was Vice President of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Association, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, for 17 years. Dr. Travis has also trained many men and women of God in ministry. Although she is nearing 90 years of age, she remains active visiting people who are sick or shut-in, as well as holding prayer meetings and Bible study sessions. She hopes that her faith, perseverance, and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ will serve as an example to others. Her ultimate objective is to make known to this generation the power of God.

Bio:
Aviance is the Director of Career, Learning and Engagement at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. Aviance provides leadership and direction for initiatives that support students and alumni in their career development, exploration of vocation, and employment outcomes. Aviance also serves as a campus ministry partner chaplain and co-advisor for the Black Student Union at PLU. Aviance is currently pursuing a PhD in Higher Education from Azusa Pacific University in California. Her developing scholarly interests currently focus on various Black issues in Higher Education.
