PLU Community Safety Information Notification – Reports of gunfire in the region

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is responding to multiple reports of gunfire in the area between 121st & Park (by the PLU Library) and 123rd & C St (about two blocks away from Tingelstad). 911 has also heard reports from as far away as 118th & A st (across Pacific Ave).  Reports vary between 5 or 6 shots, up to at least 30 shots.

No actual gunfire has been seen, and no injuries have been reported, but there is a police presence in the surrounding area as they attempt to locate the issue.

Please avoid the area if possible and report any concerning behavior to 911.

    A student caller reported seeing the gunfire when it occurred, on 124th st. There is still no active police scene and no injuries have been reported. Please report any information directly to 911.
