Responsibilities

Kathy is responsible for creating, marketing, and executing meaningful events and opportunities for alumni, current and prospective students and families to meet each other and to engage with PLU. Kathy oversees Homecoming & Family Week, Connection Events, Summer Send-offs, Grad Fair, Senior Toast and, in collaboration with the Wang Center, the Alumni Travel Seminar program. She seeks fun and inspiring ways to keep alumni connected to PLU and to its mission.

Biography

Kathy graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in interior design and worked for an architectural firm in Seattle for nearly 20 years, taking a couple of years off to work with a private developer in Manhattan. Kathy worked for a non-profit in Tacoma for four years before leaping into higher ed and PLU in 2012. The first five years were spent in the Office of Admission and in 2017 Kathy joined the Office of Alumni & Student Connections crew. She enjoys collaboration with campus partners in planning events both on and off campus bringing together alumni, current students and prospective students and their families. In her free time, she enjoys time with her family as well as reading, skiing and traveling. She also spends a fair amount of time and energy trying to control her unruly Dalmatian Pongo.

  • My first job was working in the Fun Forest at the Seattle Center as a ball girl in the games.
