Auditions for the 2015-2016 season will be held:
Friday, August 14, 7 pm – 9:30 pm
Saturday, August 15, 9 am – noon, 1 pm – 5 pm
Saturday, August 22, 1 pm – 6 pm
Auditions will take place in room 340 in the Mary Baker Russell Music Center at PLU. The auditions are private with Dr. Richard Nance, and consist of:
- Vocalization to hear the singer’s full range and tone quality.
- One verse of “My Country ‘Tis Of Thee” in a key appropriate for your voice part.
- Singing your vocal part in a short motet (which will be emailed to you prior to the audition).
- Rhythmic and melodic sight singing.
Singers receive a full season schedule prior to the audition, and are expected to commit to all rehearsals and performances in order to be accepted into the choir.
Choral Union men wear black tuxedos and are responsible for supplying these.
Choral Union women wear prescribed choral gowns, and are responsible to
purchase these through the uniform coordinator. Cost is approximately $100.
Choral Union singers pay $50 membership dues in September (for the fall semester) and January (for spring semester). Students enrolled for credit are exempt from paying dues.
