The PLU Counseling Center recognizes that the 2021-22 academic year is a challenging and transitional time.  We continue to offer a variety of services for students during the global coronavirus response and are following health guidelines set by the university, the Center for Disease Control, and the Washington State Governor.

Our staff is prepared to support students in a variety of ways, in-person and virtually.

If you are in crisis and need to talk to a professional immediately,

our crisis line (253) 535-7075 is available 24/7.

Lute Telehealth (virtual visits)

If you wish to talk to someone urgently, though not an emergent need, we have Talk Now appointments through Lute TeleHealth (www.plu.edu/lute-telehealth).  Talk Now appointments are similar to the Counseling Center’s previous Walk-In sessions.  Lute TeleHealth also provides a scheduled appointment option where you may see the same licensed counselor for up to twelve sessions.

Lute Telehealth provides easy access to mental health services online or by telephone via on-demand and scheduled appointments.  We encourage you to connect with this service as it fits for you.  Listen to yourself and reach out when you need to – this includes if you are unable to reach your ongoing counselor in the interval that might work best for you.

Counseling Center Services (in-person / virtual visits)

All initial sessions will be in-person beginning in Fall 2021.  Per Washington State licensing regulations, students currently located in Washington State and enrolled for classes may be eligible for virtual follow-up services with PLU counselors via Zoom.  The PLU Counseling Center professionals will meet for up to 6-8 sessions after an initial treatment planning appointment.  These sessions are solution-focused, short-term counseling geared towards direct and active intervention to help students achieve specific goals.

Students may have access to additional services, currently in development, including: workshops, online webinars, group meetings.  Self-help apps, websites, and books are also available on our Resources website.

To set up an appointment with a PLU Counseling Center counselor, please contact our Clinic Coordinator at 253-535-7206 or email (counseling@plu.edu, provide your phone number for contact) during business hours, 8:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

NOTE:  If you are attending classes while out-of-state or are having scheduling difficulty, please use our Lute Telehealth services to be connected to a new counselor or to seek consultation.
