Art & Design Learning Outcomes

The Department of Art & Design promotes informed creativity for lives of cultural enrichment through artistic inquiry and production. Upon completion of their degree, Art and Design majors should be able to:

  1. Identify and interpret artistic expression from a variety of current and historical sources;
  2. Demonstrate an awareness of artistic expression as a form of communication;
  3. Practice creative exploration in a variety of artistic and scholarly contexts;
  4. Demonstrate a thorough conceptual process and articulate that process in verbal and written forms;
  5. Demonstrate a dedication to craft and technical rigor in their primary artistic, scholarly, and/or entrepreneurial approach;
  6. Cultivate self-reliance, curiosity, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving in their art and scholarship.
