Add-On Endorsements

If you are planning to complete your add on endorsement this academic year, please note that you would need to have completed your application and be ready to do your pedagogy assessment by March 15.

To begin the add-on endorsement process, please complete the following steps:

1. For Pathway 1, you will submit an Add On Endorsement application directly to the state of Washington.  For information, go to the OSPI website.

2. For Pathway 2 or 3, complete application for add-on endorsement
3. Submit a current resume
4. Submit a copy of your current valid Washington Teaching Certificate
5. Submit two letters of recommendation from professionals who have observed your experience and ability
6. Submit $40 non-refundable processing fee
7. Complete the enclosed OSPI endorsement forms:

  • 1535 Institutional Application/Section A (everyone)
  • 4422 Employer Support Verification (only if employed by a Washington school district)

8. For Pathway 2, you must submit:

  • Passing score on the WEST-E in area of new endorsement (www.west.nesinc.com) (for World Language endorsements you will also need to submit passing scores on the ACTFL)
  • OSPI 1522F Verification of Endorsement Experience (Employer/s verifies 90 days experience in endorsement already held)

9. For Pathway 2 or 3

  • Option A-Employed by a school district and will be completing a pedagogy assessment within your district
    • Submit a completed OSPI form 4422 (PedagogyAssmt/Emplr Support Verification)
  • Option B-PLU will arrange pedagogy assessment placement

10. For Pathway 3, you must submit:

  • Official transcripts for institutions attended other than PLU, if applicable
  • Passing WEST-E scores in new endorsement area prior to starting your pedagogy assessment placement (for World Language endorsements you will also need to submit passing scores on the ACTFL)
