Rachel Diebel

After graduation, I will be pursuing a master’s degree in publishing at Pace University in New York City. After thoroughly enjoying my Printing & Publishing Arts classes at PLU, I decided that I wanted to pursue publishing as a career, and going to graduate school is a great way to break into both the industry and living in New York. My English major gave me the foundational knowledge and skills I need for a job based in writing and communicating, but also the freedom to explore lots of career options, which is how I happened upon publishing. I hope to travel as much as I can during my school breaks and eventually work as an editor in a children’s or young adult imprint. If I could give juniors and sophomores any advice, it would be to realize that graduation is not the deadline for deciding how you’re going to spend the rest of your life. Whether you have a job/grad school/volunteer position lined up or not, everything will be fine. Celebrate your accomplishments, but realize that this is just a possible beginning to many different life paths.
