On Grieving

I lost a friend. A peony loving, makeup loving, and overall just loving person.

I lost a friend.
A peony loving, makeup loving, and overall just loving person.
But did I lose you,
when I see you in my garden, my fragrances, and myself?
I see you in the folds of my peony flowers, I smell you in the Gardenia I wear, and in my
blood shot eyes.
You never left when your presence still lingers.
Lingers like the water droplets on freshly watered peonies,
lingers like my CHANEL,
and lingers like the smell of ghost mints in my car.
You linger.
But I do not mind, because I found a ‘friend.’
In my depressive state, I found a friend in myself.
Thanks to you Ana,
My peony loving, my makeup loving, and my overall loving person.
