Annual CGE Events
Involvement Fair – The Involvement Fair is held every year following Convocation. Stop by the Center for Gender Equity’s table to learn how you can be involved in the upcoming school year!
Gender Awesome Retreat – Annual day-long retreat for self-identified: Trans, gender-non conforming, non-binary and gender awesome students. The day is gender affirming and mutually supportive with a focus on building community.
Sex+ – Sex+ programming is a year-long series sponsored by The Center for Gender Equity and The Diversity Center to address the need for positive conversations concerning sex, gender, and sexuality.
Follow the Chocolate Trail Open House – The Center for Gender Equity is a stop on the Chocolate Trail, an event where Centers open our doors to enjoy our space, meet the staff and interns, and, of course, enjoy the iconic CGE chocolate fountain!
Queer Student Retreat – This retreat provides a space for queer-identified or questioning students to explore their identities and relationship to the PLU community.
LGBTQ History Month – October is LGBTQ History Month! The Center for Gender Equity and the Diversity Center sponsors a variety of events during October to celebrate and embrace sexual diversity. Contact the Center for Gender Equity or the Diversity Center to find out how you can be involved!
Transgender Day of Visibility– In collaboration with students and community, we host a gathering to celebrate transgender resilience.
Women’s History Month – March is Women’s History Month! Email the Center at email@example.com to find out how you can become involved in programs and events during March to recognize and celebrate the contributions women have made in the world!
International Women’s Day – As part of Women’s History Month, International Women’s Day is March 8th! Celebrate the women who have made contributions in the world and a difference in your life!
Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM): April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The CGE team has collaborated with many campus offices to provide diverse events designed to raise awareness and increase prevention. Take Back the Night – Take Back the Night is an event that aims to shed light on gender-based violence and take back the space that fear of such violence occupies. Join us for a march and rally in Red Square near the end of April where people share their experiences and speak out against sexual violence!
Stand in Solidarity – Stand in Solidarity is a way for allies and accomplices to pledge their support for victims of gender-based violence. This event typically occurs on the same day of Take Back the Night and leads up to the march. Contact itsOnLutes@plu.edu
