Patches, Gum and More
Quitting is tough, but it is easier with help. There are a variety of nicotine replacement therapies available, including patches, gums, inhalers, and lozenges. When used correctly, these will taper a person off of nicotine over the course of a few days to weeks until the person is no longer addicted. It is important to use these products as intended to not smoke or use tobacco when using a nicotine replacement therapy. Many of these products are available over the counter, and are also available at the Student Health Center. There are also medications a person can take to help them quit smoking, which are available by a prescription. If you are interested in learning more about nicotine replacement therapies or medication, please make an appointment with the Student Health Center or your health care provider.
