Dear Colleagues,
Two weeks ago I wrote to you sharing details of the Presidential Commission for Innovation and Change and requested nominations of community members interested in participating in this important project. I have been overwhelmed by the positive response from across campus.
Nominations closed last Thursday. I was delighted to receive nominations of 54 staff and faculty members.
As previously announced, Cameron Bennett, Dean of the School of Arts & Communication and PLU’s Chief Innovation Officer, will lead the commission. I am pleased to announce that he will be joined by fellow Lutes:
Kory Brown, Assistant Professor of Business, School of Business
Melody Ferguson – Associate Dean of Admission, Division of Enrollment Management
Erin McGinnis – Associate Vice President for Hospitality and Retail Services, Dining and Culinary Services
Adela Ramos – Associate Professor of English, College of Arts and Sciences
In addition to collaborating and consulting with students, alumni, board of regents and community members, the commission will also regularly engage and consult with Campus Ministry.
Thank you to everyone who was nominated or volunteered to serve on the Commission. The list of potential members reflected the diverse and incredibly talented PLU community, and made me feel even more enthusiastic about the possibilities ahead for this university.
Dean Bennett and the Commission will begin their work immediately. In addition to seeking input from the entire campus, all of those nominated will be invited to participate in further discussion about the work and priorities for change and innovation needed to move PLU forward. Look for further communication in the coming days directly from the Commission.
Please pass along your thanks and appreciation for those who have agreed to serve. I thank you all for supporting this exciting new effort.
– Allan
