B.A. in Nordic Studies and Minor in Norwegian

Our major in Nordic Studies (36 credits) focuses primarily on contemporary issues such as migration, Indigenous peoples, cinematic representation of Norden and literature of social criticism. A selection of courses in culture, history, literature and film prepares you for this study.

Our minor in Norwegian (20 credits) focuses on proficiency in Norwegian language. It also requires the selection of one additional course on the Nordic region.

The curriculum is carefully designed to relate courses to one another and prepare students for their final capstone project. The program emphasizes an interdisciplinary inquiry into the development of Nordic cultures and the relevance of this often overlooked region in today’s global community. Classes in the program are often small, and attention to each student’s unique academic focus is an integral part of the advising process.
