Essay guidelines for the SCC Endowed Neil Anderson Merit Scholarship for Nordic Studies majors
Why study Scandinavia? People have different reasons for developing an interest in the Nordic countries - some come from families with Scandinavian roots; some have traveled there and fallen in love with the landscape; some feel an instant affinity for Scandinavian music or design; to name just a few. The interdisciplinary academic study of Scandinavia allows us to move beyond our initial attraction to this unique area of the world and to engage more deeply with the cultures, histories, politics, arts, and economies of these countries and with Scandinavia's place in a global context.
