For my project I set out to learn about cryptography. More specifically I studied encryption techniques that defend data from offline attacks, examined the hashing algorithm SHA-256 in order to figure out why it is commonly used, and concluded my research by comparing SHA-256 to past algorithms such as MD5 and SHA-1.
