Join us for a (First in the Family) photo and get a free T-shirt!
Friday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. in Red Square.
For the spring edition of ResoLute, PLU’s university magazine, Marketing & Communications will feature stories from community members who identify as “first in the family,” or first-generation college students or graduates. PLU’s Admission Office defines “first-generation” students as those whose parents didn’t graduate from four-year, degree-granting institutions within the U.S.
Inspired by the latest magazine, we invite all first-gen faculty, staff, students and alumni to Red Square on Friday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. for a (first in the) family photo. To motivate our community to come together amid busy spring schedules, we are giving away free “First in the Family” T-shirts to the first 500 participants.

First-in-the family Lutes include the chairs of the Board of Regents and faculty, the acting president, countless alumni and 42 percent of our first-year class. Many Lutes count this identity as a salient part of their PLU story. It’s woven throughout the university’s past, present and future. Keep an eye out for ResoLute in late May for these stories and more.
