TACOMA, WASH. (May 4, 2020) — Five dynamic new weekly shows headline PLU Community YouTube, a new venture that leverages original programming to showcase the uniquely interpersonal values and tight-knit culture of the Lute family — even in this time of physical distancing.
The shows all connect back to a different central channel theme each week, and are hosted by a team of cross-campus partners from the Student Care Network, Student Life, the School of Arts and Communication, Outdoor Rec, Counseling, Health & Wellness Services, and Campus Ministry.
Created to help bring on- and off-campus community members together after the university transitioned to distance learning in early March, the channel began publishing its programs April 6 and will continue through the end of the spring semester.
Mindful Mondays, hosted by Counseling, Health & Wellness Services’ Tammara Bode, is focused on centering the mind with course- and vocation-related exercises from the PLU Counseling Center.
PLU Reads, hosted by Assistant Professor of Education Wendy Gardiner, is for the younger members of our Lute community while families are home together for “Stay Home, Stay Healthy.” The show is centered on a topic from a book or other children’s literature that connects with each week’s channel theme.
Warm Line, hosted by PLU Pastor Jen Rude, centers the spiritual well-being of our PLU community through topics of faith and spiritual community, interpretations of and opportunities for service, and so for.
Diversity Deep Dive, hosted by Associate Vice President for Diversity Justice, and Sustainability Angie Hambrick and Dean of Inclusive Excellence Jennifer Smith, explores the intersection of diversity & justice with weekly channel themes such as Community, Care and Resiliency.
Physical Fridays, hosted by PLU women’s basketball student-athlete Katie Taylor, encourages viewers to take care of their physical health during quarantine, embrace the outdoors and stay connected with fellow Lutes through responsible exercise.
