Financial Aid & Scholarships

The PLU School of Business has many scholarship and financial aid awards available. Please select from which type you’d like to view. You may also look into federal, military aid, or external scholarships to support your graduate studies.

Application deadline:

  • Spring 2024 Application Priority Deadline: November 1, 2023
  • Fall 2024  Application Priority Deadline: April 15, 2024

Criteria: Applicants to a PLU School of Business graduate program with high academic standards, and who have demonstrated a purposeful life of achievement, inquiry, integrity, leadership, and service may apply for this scholarship. Specifically, the applicant must:

  • Have submitted a complete application for admission to the PLU MBA program
  • Have a minimum average 3.0 GPA in all previous college or university coursework
  • Demonstrate evidence of living a purposeful life of achievement, inquiry, integrity, leadership, and service to the community

Terms of the award: Students whose tuition is paid for by an outside organization (GI Bill, employer tuition benefits) are not eligible for this award. The Dean’s Excellence Graduate Scholarship is divided into two equal allocations for the fall and spring semesters. The fall portion is dispersed automatically. In order to receive the spring portion the student must:

  • Enroll full-time
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

The Murray-Danielson Management Award Scholarship was established and funded by Kenneth P. Murray, who received a BA and MBA from Pacific Lutheran University, and Sherman Danielson who graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a BA.

Award amount: $3,276

Criteria:

  • United States citizen
  • Full-time (12+ credits per semester) Undergraduate  (8 credits per semester) Graduate student
  • 3.00 minimum GPA (Junior/Senior) or 3.33 minimum GPA (Graduate)
  • Leadership skills

This highly competitive scholarship, sponsored by the PLU Business Network, is open to graduate business students who display high academic standards and leadership within the School of Business. Selected candidates will be interviewed by the PLU Business Network Board of Directors.

Award Amount: $1,773

Application Deadline: Scholarship has already been awarded for the ’23-’24 school year.

Criteria:

  • Full-time- 8 credits per semester in the MBA or MSMA/12 credits per semester in the BBA
  • 3.00 minimum GPA
  • Leadership, Communication and Time Management Skills

Mr. Tom Carlson, a PLU 1965 BS Math graduate, established the Emilie “Lee” Zulauf MBA Scholarship in 2017 in memory of Emilie Zulauf a PLU Education graduate. Mrs. Zulauf was the wife of Dwight Zulauf, PLU’s first Dean of the School of Business.  Mr. Carlson was impressed by her story of the difficulty she overcame earning her MBA while staying a very active and involved stay-at-home mother and community member.

Award amount: $1,181

Number of awards: One

Criteria: To be awarded to an MBA student.  Preferably a student raising a family while earning their degree.

Gundar King was a professor, dean, scholar, essayist, and promoter of higher education.  He spent his entire academic career at Pacific Lutheran University.  Both colleagues and students benefited from his wisdom and fellowship.  Gundar was a guiding spirit in directing the growth of the School of Business.  He was instrumental in establishing a Master of Business Administration program at PLU.

Award Amount: $1,404

Application Deadline: Tuesday, October 17, 2023 by 5pm.

Criteria:  For current students. Graduate student standing in the MBA, enrollment in 8 or more graduate credits in Fall 2023. Awarded to a graduate student in the MBA program from the Baltic States with financial need.  If no recipient is available, then the scholarship should be awarded to a deserving MBA student without geographic restrictions.

Mr. and Mrs. Victor F. Kuntzen established the Gladys M. Knutzen Memorial MBA Scholarship in 1991 in memory of Victor’s sister. Victor is a retired Boeing vice president and controller. He also served as a Pacific Lutheran University Board of Regent from 1969 until 1983. Victor died in 1997. Blessed be his memory. This scholarship is intended to encourage qualified candidates to reach their greatest possible potential through education.

Award amount: $4,763

Criteria: For current students. Graduate student standing in the MBA, enrollment in 8 or more credits in a graduate program in business, academic achievement, Financial need, based on the FAFSA (applicants must submit the FAFSA to PLU by March 1). Need is affected by many factors and all students are encouraged to apply.

The PLU Grant provides a 10 percent discount on tuition for applicants who graduated from PLU with a bachelor’s degree or higher and enroll in a PLU graduate-level degree or approved master’s level certificate program. Restrictions apply to those students who are also PLU employees. The discount begins immediately upon admission.
