It's the 1st Ever Rieke Photo Contest!

You’re invited to participate in the first ever Rieke Photo Contest! We’re looking for photos representing your time at PLU in the Division of Natural Sciences. Subject matter is up to you, but the photo should be of a PLU science-related experience (including experiences off-campus, like Study Away).

There are 5 categories in which you can enter photos: Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences, Physics, and general Natural Sciences. The PLU community (students, faculty, staff, alums) will select the winners, and the top three photos in each category will be framed and displayed in the glass cases across from Enrieké the Slug in the Rieke Science Center hallway.

  1. You don’t have to be a Natural Sciences major to enter, but you must be an enrolled PLU student who has taken (or is currently taking) a Natural Sciences class (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Environmental Studies, Geosciences, Mathematics, Physics).
  2. Each student may only enter twice.
  3. Each photo may only be entered in one category.
  4. Any student can submit a photo to any discipline. (For example: A Computer Science student can submit a photo in the Chemistry category.)
  5. Photos will be printed 19.25″ x 27.25″, so please submit the largest possible file size. In general, 2600 x 1920 pixels is a good dimension, and if you’re using a camera or phone camera with 9+ megapixels, you should be fine.
  6. Photos can be color or black & white.

  • Submissions are accepted September 18th – October 28th
  • Voting runs November 4th – 8th
  • Winners are announced on November 15th

  • 1st place in each category receives a $20 gift card to the Lute Locker
  • 2nd place in each category receives a $10 gift card to the Lute Locker
  • 3rd place in each category receives a $5 gift card to the Lute Locker
