Presidential Search Update 150 150 Presidential Search

Dear PLU Community:

The Presidential Search is entering the final phase of our recruitment effort which includes bringing finalists to campus for interviews. The Search Committee met with semi-finalist candidates for neutral site interviews and has identified finalists whom we have invited to visit campus shortly after Spring term begins.

We will be welcoming candidates to campus for the following dates:

  • Candidate #1 – February 13 & 14
  • Candidate #2 – February 19 & 20
  • Candidate #3 – February 21 & 22

Throughout the search process, the committee has pledged to protect the identity of candidates. We ask for your continued cooperation in maintaining their confidentiality throughout their visits. Approximately 24-hours prior to their visits, we will post the candidate’s CV and a short biography on the Presidential Search Website under ePass protection for your information. Our candidates hold significant responsibilities in their current positions which may be made more difficult should their candidacy be made known. We ask that you respect our pledge to these candidates that we will not openly publicize their visits beyond the campus community.

Additionally, please do not contact anyone about the finalists, including colleagues you may know at their current or former institutions. If you know someone who may have substantive information about any of the finalists, you may contact one of the Search Co-Chairs so that we may follow-up. Please be assured that our search consultants at Korn Ferry are working on our behalf to speak with individuals who have worked with the finalists and know them well.

Although these campus visits are our opportunity to interview the candidates, they also serve to demonstrate the benefits and challenges in store for the next PLU President. In other words, we are also being interviewed by the candidates. The schedule will include specific meetings with various PLU constituencies (faculty, staff and students) and an open forum for all campus constituencies. We know that PLU’s mission centered values, strong academic and co-curricular programs, and welcoming community will impress all of our finalists.

We encourage you to attend the open forums and provide feedback via the surveys distributed following each visit. Dates, times and locations will be posted on the Presidential Search Website.

Sincerely,

Susan Caulkins & Michelle Ceynar, Co-Chairs
Presidential Search Committee
