Resident Director Position Description

Dan Hammerquist, Resident Director for Tingelstad Hall:I think the RD position at PLU is unique because the RD team is highly collaborative, and each RD has the opportunity to work on projects and initiatives they are passionate about. In addition, RDs at PLU are given a high level of responsibility in areas such as student staff training and leadership development, student staff selection, living learning communities, and assessment.

Resident Director for Pflueger Hall

  • Collateral assignment with Student Rights & Responsibilities
  • Supervises 6 Resident Assistants (RAs)
  • Pflueger has First Year and New Transfer and Continuing Student Wings
  • Pflueger is located on lower campus near: Parking Facilities – including first year and gated lots, Tahoma Market & Cafe, the Names Fitness Gym, Olson Fieldhouse, Rieke Science Center, Mary Baker Russell Music Center, Foss Field, Basketball Courts, Sand Volleyball Pit, Tennis Courts, Swimming Pool, Pflueger Fire Pit
  • RD office and apartment is located in Pflueger Hall

Resident Director for Hong and Hinderlie Halls

  • Supervises a staff of 12 Resident Assistants (RA’s)
  • Hong International Hall is a Residential Learning Community that focuses on global study and language immersion, with five language wings (Spanish, French, Chinese, Norwegian and German) and International Honors (IHON) wing
  • Hinderlie Community for Creative Expression Residential Learning Community focuses on creativity and innovation. Hinderlie is also home to one of two Gender Neutral Housing wings on campus
  • Hong and Hinderlie are both located on upper campus near: the Mortvedt Library, Hauge Administration Building (home to Admission, Student Services, Student Life, Provost’s Office), Mary Baker Russell Music Center, Karen Hille Phillips Center for Performing Arts, and Ingram Hall (home to visual and fine arts classrooms, studios and galleries)
  • The RD office is located in Hinderlie and the RD apartment is located in Hong
