STEM House Application

STEM House Application

About the STEM House

VISION:
This is a NEW community for Fall 2017!! For students interested in a living experience that includes co-curricular programming and learning about the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics). This community is great for intended STEM-related majors and also for those not majoring in STEM who would like to continue their learning on these topics. Community comprises four wings located in Tingelstad Hall.

LINKED COURSE:
The first-year students assigned to the STEM House will be linked to a First Year Experience Program (FYEP) Writing 101 courses on a science topic. During New Student Registration (in June), all first-year residents and commuter students who have opted into this experience will sign up for one of these linked FYEP Writing 101 sections. Co-enrollment in linked FYEP Writing 101 courses is available for Fall semester only. First-year students will also co-enroll in an introductory class in the Division of Natural Sciences.

RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS:

All first-year residents of the STEM House will be co-enrolled in one of the linked FYEP Writing 101 sections on the topic of science. Continuing residents do not have a linked course requirement.

COMMUTER STUDENTS:
Several spots are being held in the linked course sections for first-year commuter students to join the STEM House. First-year commuter students who join this community will be required to attend certain co-curricular offerings as part of the linked course.
