STEM House Application

STEM House Application

About the STEM House

The STEM House is a community designed for students interested in a living experience that includes co-curricular programming and learning about the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics). This community is great for intended STEM-related majors and also for those not majoring in STEM who would like to continue their learning on these topics. Community comprises four wings located in Tingelstad Hall.

The first-year students assigned to the STEM House will be linked to a First Year Experience Program (FYEP) Writing 101 courses on a science topic. During New Student Registration (in June), all first-year residents and commuter students who have opted into this experience will sign up for one of these linked FYEP Writing 101 sections. Co-enrollment in linked FYEP Writing 101 courses is available for Fall semester only. First-year students will also co-enroll in an introductory class in the Division of Natural Sciences. Continuing residents do not have a linked course requirement.

All students applying for housing in the STEM House must complete a standard PLU housing application and the application below.  Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until space is no longer available.  Incoming first-year students interested in the STEM House should apply as soon as possible.

STEM Questions

Please provide a brief (less than 200 words) response to the following questions.

Housing Assignments

Residential Life staff will work together to make assignments into the STEM House. Assignments will be made from the pool of eligible applicants and be based on available space, the order in which a deposit was received, and your response to the listed questions. We are looking for students who intentionally want to be a part of this community and are thoughtful in their responses.
