Swedish Genealogists Workshop

On Saturday, September 24th, the Scandinavian Cultural Center is pleased to be hosting an all-day workshop with expert Swedish genealogists who are touring the United States this autumn from Sweden.  They will
teach and assist Swedish-Americans in how to find their roots and how to do
genealogical research.  On previous trips, the
group was successful in helping many individuals get started with their research
as well as breaking down many brick walls.

The Swedish genealogy research day at the Scandinavian Cultural Center will include
presentations and demonstrations on how to use the various resources for
Swedish genealogical and historical research. There will be presentations on
Swedish genealogical online resources, Swedish genealogical CDs and Swedish
emigration. The cost to attend the workshop is $25, and includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Register through the PLU Concierge by calling (253) 535-7411.

Throughout the workshop, there will be opportunities for these experts to assist individuals with their own personal genealogical research. The group will have access to Swedish online and CD genealogical resources
including resources specific to regional areas such as Kalmar, Jönköping,
Halland, Jämtland and Stockholm.

The Swedish tour participants will be Charlotte Börjesson, Olof Cronberg and
Anna-Lena Hultman. Kathy Meade, the U.S. representative for ArkivDigital, will also be accompanying the group.

As an added bonus, and for an extra $10 requested donation to the SCC, the experts will create a report for attendees who apply ahead of time by sending in their research question in advance here. There are 18 slots available, each lasting 30-minutes, for this special one-on-one assistance. While others listen to the main presentations, those who apply ahead of time will be paired with one of the three Swedish researcher experts for an in-depth, personalized discussion.
