The Pacific Lutheran University athletic department is excited to welcome 133 student-athletes as part of the incoming Lute recruiting class for the fall of 2018. This year’s recruiting class features student-athletes from three different continents, two foreign countries, and 11 states. Of the 2018 Lutes, 81 are male and 52 are female. The State of Washington leads the way with the most recruits with 84 hailing from within the state while Hawaii sits second with 14 recruits. California accounts for 12 while nine hail from neighboring Oregon.
Football leads the way with 36 incoming players, followed by women’s track & field with 15 recruits and baseball with 13. Not all of the incoming Lutes will be first-years with seven transferring from either a junior college or another four-year institution.
The 133 incoming Lutes just represents those who have already deposited by May 1 as all 19 intercollegiate programs continue to recruit through the summer months.
The 133 new Lutes are a welcome addition to an athletic department that won six Northwest Conference Championships during the 2017-2018 academic year and finished second overall in the NWC’s McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Standings.
