Kathleen Martin was hired by the Job Carr Museum as a Living Historical Performer. She passes on the history of Job Carr (first Mayor of Tacoma), the Oregon Trail, and history of Tacoma and Steilacoom. She portrays Estelle Bradish Woods Mann, the first journalist, city editor, town clerk, florist, and Tacoma press representative for the circuit court in Steilacoom in the 1880’s, and first woman to serve on a jury. This means a lot to Kathleen, who was born and raised in Tacoma. As a Broadcast Journalism major from PLU, she feels honored to play the first woman journalist in Tacoma!
